Glomus Jugulare Removal

Dear Dr Bartels,

I just wanted to drop you a note to thank you so much for the wonderful job you did removing my glomus jugulare tumor.  I feel so fortunate that I did not suffer any complications or "side effects" and I know that is mainly due to being in the hands of such a skilled surgeon.  I am so glad Dr. D. recommended that I see you.

Sincerely,

D.A.

An Angel in Tampa

Many years ago I met a crazy lady, and now I am proud to call her my friend.  She and I have bowled together since 1993, we enjoy bowling, bingo and our friendship.  For at least 20 years due to childhood illnesses she has had to wear hearing aides.  Sometimes they irritate her and she keeps them in her purse.  Once and a while they funny bunny gets a hold of me and I would be talking to her and she would say what, what, what.  And I knew she didn't have her aides in, so I would bend down and talk to her purse.  She has learned to live with the loss of hearing for many years. Not knowing there was help available just a phone call a way.  While she was visiting another doctor he suggested she see a very amazing specialist, Dr Bartels.

Dr Bartels is a doctor with a heart of gold, and the gift of healing.  An angel sent from heaven couldn't have been any better then Dr Bartels.  Since her first visit she has had both ears operated on to restore her hearing, and both were very successful.  She no longer has to wear her hearing aides, have the TV up real loud, or have to ask people to repeat what they said.  Just imagine after more than twenty years not being able to hear everything clearly.  And now with that one phone call she can.  Tears came to me quickly when I visited her in the hospital, while she had just come out of surgery and still under the influence of the anesthesia she was able to hear; the first moment she awakened she knew the operation was a success.

My tears where of happiness and sadness.  I was so tremendously happy for my dear friend but saddened for myself.  I also have suffered with a hearing loss for many years.  After my visit with her, I called and made an appointment.  On my first visit with Dr Bartels I was very nervous, afraid I wouldn't be a candidate for the same surgery as my friend, and that possibly I would not get the miracle I so deeply hoped and prayed for.

After going over the basic exam and some questions the great doctor turned to me and said I wasn't going to get the same surgery, my hearing loss was different from hers.  But "I think I can help you."  Tears came freely as I heard these wonderful words coming from this man.  I turned to look at my husband of thirty one years and he was crying.  When I turned back to face Dr Bartels he too had tears in his eyes.  What an amazing man, doctor and angel from God.  Since my first visit I have had my surgery, and happily waiting to have my second.  I can hear.  Everyday I try to tell someone about this wonderful doctor who came into the life of two very lucky ladies.  Please tell someone about this wonderful doctor who came into the life of two very lucky ladies.  Please encourage any one you know that has a hearing problem to seek out a doctor like Dr Bartels.

Great Work

Dear Dr Bartels,

I want to say thank you for the great work that you do.  You performed a stapedectomy on my right ear in September and it is so wonderful to be able to hear again.  Your expertise and skills have given me a gift that has changed my life.  It is so wonderful to be able to converse with people with ease.  You have reopened my world!

Thank you again. Sincerely,

M.M.

God Bless You!

Returned to School

Hi Dr Danner,

K.C. returned to USF in January to continue his studies.  He had rehab at the Sports Concussion Unit in Syracuse this past year.  He appears to be doing well, and seems to be doing well in his studies.  Thank you for all your help last year, your team was helpful too!

2 Years Out

Dear Dr Bartels,

It's been 2 years as of August since my Acoustic Neuroma surgery.  My family and I are still in awe of what you did for me.  I've been to at least six doctors since my surgery and they can't believe I'm doing this well.  I think I'm Dr B.'s Acoustic Neuroma post child, he is truly amazed at how well I'm doing.  I feel like I owe my life to you, and I'm still grateful for your skill as a surgeon.

Sincerely,

J.G.

I Can Hear

Dear Dr Bartels,

Thank you, thank you, thank you!  I can hear!  After seven years with a hearing aid, I had not even imagined that my hearing might ever be restored.  I had assumed that my hearing would continue to decline and hearing aids would need to become more powerful.

When I learned that a stapedectomy would "fix" the problem in my ear, I thought it was too good to be true.

But here I am... three weeks after the surgery... hearing beautifully with no hearing aid.  To me, it's a miracle.  Most of all I'm happy for my family... my husband, children and grandchildren.  I hear them now... the first time.  They were wonderfully understanding and patient with me before, repeating so many times... but I'm grateful that I no longer need to impose on their patience in that way.

Through your skillful surgery, you have blessed our whole family.  What a grand way to begin the New Year!

Gratefully,

J.S.

Accurate Diagnosis

Dear Dr Danner,

I just wanted to thank you again and let you know how grateful I am to be able to hear so well.  Your diagnosis was quick and accurate.  I truly appreciate your knowledge and skills and how lucky for me you were able to remove the cholesteatoma and rebuild what was necessary all in one surgery.

I had a wonderful summer with our grandchildren and family.  We had numerous get togethers and it was much easier to follow the conversations.  I can hear on the phone again with my left ear and that too is a blessing.

Best of wishes to you, your family, practice and patients.  God bless.

Sincerely,

J.M.

Adnoidcystic Carcinoma

Dear Dr Danner,

Back in January you diagnosed me with reoccurring Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma.  At the time you told me that I would lose the nerves in my face.  This distressed me greatly.  Right before going into the operating room you once again told me I would more than likely lose the nerves.  Well the genius that you are you stopped removing tumor because it was in the nerves.  It is a slow growing tumor and we would do radiation and hope for the best.  Well here it is 7 years later and the tumor has not grown.  There is a hearing aid out called the BAHA.  Because you saved the nerves I am going to receive this hearing aid.

I just wanted to write to you and Thank You so very much for being so concerned for me and my feelings.  I am now going to be able to hear again!!!  I just think you are the BEST DOCTOR there ever was or will be! I wish more doctors were like you!

Very sincerely,

N.C.

One Year Gone By

Dear Dr Bartels,

Today is one year that B. has been hearing - and we wanted to thank you again for making that happen.  There has not been a day that has gone by that we haven't felt so blessed and been so thankful for you and the true miracle you gave to our family.  B. is doing great - he has been assessed to be doing and saying everything a hearing child would at his age.  Thank you again - we love you.

B.B.
