Returned to School

Hi Dr Danner,

K.C. returned to USF in January to continue his studies.  He had rehab at the Sports Concussion Unit in Syracuse this past year.  He appears to be doing well, and seems to be doing well in his studies.  Thank you for all your help last year, your team was helpful too!

Earaches

Dear Dr Danner,

Since 6 months of age, my daughter had been experiencing horrible earaches, which kept her up at night. She was consistently on antibiotics to clear up the infections.  Her pediatrician recommended us to see an ENT for the possibility of tubes. Well to make a long story short we came to see Dr Danner and we were nothing but satisfied. The nursing staff was always patient with my daughter and always made her feel at home.

On February 1 my 13 month old baby girl had to have surgery.  As a mom, I was devastated, thinking the worst.  Let me be the first to say our experience the day of the surgery was nothing but the best. The hospital nursing staff made sure we as parents knew the entire team that would be with her during her surgery and we were able to ask ample amounts of questions. Although the 10 minutes we were away from our daughter was the hardest thing ever, we knew she was being very well taken care of.

Thank you sincerely.  We are a military family and not having family in town makes every situation, as such, very difficult. You and your staff should feel proud for the great job you all do on a daily basis.

Great Work

Dear Dr Bartels,

I want to say thank you for the great work that you do.  You performed a stapedectomy on my right ear in September and it is so wonderful to be able to hear again.  Your expertise and skills have given me a gift that has changed my life.  It is so wonderful to be able to converse with people with ease.  You have reopened my world!

Thank you again. Sincerely,

M.M.

God Bless You!

Miracle

Dear Dr Danner,

As of last Thursday I can hear with my new Cochlear Implant.  It is programmed soft to begin with but I can hear and have a volume control so I can turn it up to hear TV. What a miracle.  Tomorrow I go back for an upgrade.  Each time I go back the hearing will get even better!  I even went to church Sunday and heard most of what the Pastor said.  Unbelievable.

Love to all,

B.S.

An Angel in Tampa

Many years ago I met a crazy lady, and now I am proud to call her my friend.  She and I have bowled together since 1993, we enjoy bowling, bingo and our friendship.  For at least 20 years due to childhood illnesses she has had to wear hearing aides.  Sometimes they irritate her and she keeps them in her purse.  Once and a while they funny bunny gets a hold of me and I would be talking to her and she would say what, what, what.  And I knew she didn't have her aides in, so I would bend down and talk to her purse.  She has learned to live with the loss of hearing for many years. Not knowing there was help available just a phone call a way.  While she was visiting another doctor he suggested she see a very amazing specialist, Dr Bartels.

Dr Bartels is a doctor with a heart of gold, and the gift of healing.  An angel sent from heaven couldn't have been any better then Dr Bartels.  Since her first visit she has had both ears operated on to restore her hearing, and both were very successful.  She no longer has to wear her hearing aides, have the TV up real loud, or have to ask people to repeat what they said.  Just imagine after more than twenty years not being able to hear everything clearly.  And now with that one phone call she can.  Tears came to me quickly when I visited her in the hospital, while she had just come out of surgery and still under the influence of the anesthesia she was able to hear; the first moment she awakened she knew the operation was a success.

My tears where of happiness and sadness.  I was so tremendously happy for my dear friend but saddened for myself.  I also have suffered with a hearing loss for many years.  After my visit with her, I called and made an appointment.  On my first visit with Dr Bartels I was very nervous, afraid I wouldn't be a candidate for the same surgery as my friend, and that possibly I would not get the miracle I so deeply hoped and prayed for.

After going over the basic exam and some questions the great doctor turned to me and said I wasn't going to get the same surgery, my hearing loss was different from hers.  But "I think I can help you."  Tears came freely as I heard these wonderful words coming from this man.  I turned to look at my husband of thirty one years and he was crying.  When I turned back to face Dr Bartels he too had tears in his eyes.  What an amazing man, doctor and angel from God.  Since my first visit I have had my surgery, and happily waiting to have my second.  I can hear.  Everyday I try to tell someone about this wonderful doctor who came into the life of two very lucky ladies.  Please tell someone about this wonderful doctor who came into the life of two very lucky ladies.  Please encourage any one you know that has a hearing problem to seek out a doctor like Dr Bartels.

New Sounds

Dear Dr Bartels,

I have been wearing my processor now for almost five months.  I cannot ever thank God enough for keeping His promise to me that I would hear before I died and I thank Him for sending me to you. I know He is guiding me all the time.

I hear so many things or sounds now.  I hear every day more sounds. Voices are very plain. I wish all the deaf could have the implant so they could hear the birds, the children laugh, your family, and the word of God on Sunday. I can hear the music very well. If only one person is talking or singing I can understand it all but when they add other musical instruments or other voices I cannot get that very good, yet, my hopes still are so high. I can even cut back on some of my anxiety medication now.

Thank you is never enough. I thank God for leading me to you. I will see you again soon for an adjustment to the processor.

Love in Christ,

C.F.

Glomus Jugulare Removal

Dear Dr Bartels,

I just wanted to drop you a note to thank you so much for the wonderful job you did removing my glomus jugulare tumor.  I feel so fortunate that I did not suffer any complications or "side effects" and I know that is mainly due to being in the hands of such a skilled surgeon.  I am so glad Dr. D. recommended that I see you.

Sincerely,

D.A.

Got My Hearing Back

Dear Dr Danner,

Thank you! Due to my health there are many who would not have performed the surgery. I just wanted to thank you for your compassion, patience, and knowledge. Having my hearing back will give me a much better quality of life!

J.M.

Taking Care of Me

Dear Dr Danner,

I just wanted to say thank you for taking care of me yesterday!  I am resting at home and recovering very well.  I've hardly had any pain, but I do keep asking my mom if she can take the cover off my ear.  She says we can't...

Single Sided Deafness

Dear Dr Danner,

Unfortunately I lost the hearing in my right ear.  Fortunately I was blessed in finding you.  You are a doctor in the truest form of the word - knowledgeable, caring, warm, compassionate, and understanding.  Thank you for helping me find my way through this trying time.  Not only am I lucky but I am also very proud to be your patient.
